Love and Logic is more of a philosophy than it is prescriptive. I have used it in working with at risk juveniles, in relationship and family therapy; in pre-school, primary and secondary school classrooms as well as working with parents. It compliments all other parenting programs and helps us enjoy parenting as well as all our other relationships. I have greatly enjoyed raising my two sons and attribute much of that to the use of Love and Logic principles.

This book is a quick easy read and gives a lot of practical advice and dialogue in dealing with tantrums and toddler/child behaviour. I used to use this method which is in line with a lot of mainstream parenting styles - it talks about giving choices, the child gets a bit of power by choosing things throughout the day (ie do you want to go to the park or the beach, do you want to wear your red t-shirt or the blue?). Basically choices all day and then the idea that the child will then more likely give in and listen to the parents choice of things like complying with what they want like: going to bed or doing something the parent wants. It talks about how to get your child to do anything. This worked for us for a while, but I no longer follow this philosophy of child rearing, hence my average grade. If you follow most mainstream parenting styles, this book is a good one to add to your bookshelf.
