H.P. Lovecraft is one of the most influential writers in the history of horror fiction. His style is unique, mixing fantasy, science fiction and horror to make truly frightening tales that have scared readers silly for nearly a century. His characters inhabit a world of strange places, ancient gods, and above all unspeakable horrors. His gift for making the reader feel genuinely uncomfortable is apparent in this carefully selected collection of fantastic stories, from the short but stifling "The Rats in the Walls" to the indescribable denouement of "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward". His greatest Cthulhu stores are included as well, making this collection an ideal introduction to this little-known literary genius, as well as a handsome addition to any core fan's dark library.

About the Author

Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1890. A sickly child, he barely attended school but read a huge amount. His ambition as a young man was to become an astronomer, but he lacked the qualifications to go to university and ultimately turned to writing and editing. Although he was not famous as an author during his lifetime, his status as one of the great 20th century horror writers grew after his death from cancer in 1937.

Reviews
