Cyclospora cayetanensis is a microscopic parasite that can be transmitted via food or water sources and causes intestinal disease (Cyclosporiasis) in humans. Cyclospora and Cyclosporiasis: Epidemiology, Diagnosis, Detection, and Control reviews 22 species of Cyclospora and discusses C. cayetanensis infection in humans. This book offers comprehensive coverage that includes taxonomy and biology, molecular characteristics, and transmission of the parasite. It also provides researchers, clinicians, public health officials, and food safety officials with basic data for the epidemiology of the Cyclospora spp. or C. cayetanensis, as well as strategies to monitor large-scale outbreaks of Cyclospora spp. or C. cayetanensis. The book further covers clinical symptoms, diagnostic methods, and means of treatment and prevention of this disease and informs readers of the hazards of the parasite, common means of transmission, and self-protection measures.

Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Cyclospora, Cysticercus cellulosae, Trichinella spiralis. He is a member of the International Protozoan Society and Editor of Advances in Animal Medicine. Dr. Jun-Qiang Li Henan is a member of Long-Xian Zhang’s lab at Henan Agricultural University. He is part of the College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine and has a PhD in Veterinary Medicine. Since 2011, Dr. Li has been engaged in the study of the epidemiology and molecular characteristics of Cyclospora in humans and animals (such as nonhuman primates, dairy cattle. He has also conducted research on the population genetic structure of Cyclospora cayetanensis infection in humans. He is a member of the China Protozoological Society.

Reviews

"This book is a high-quality resource for a well-defined audience of scientists or epidemiologists (less likely for clinicians). I have read about this parasite only in infectious disease textbooks. This is the first time I have read a book specifically dedicated to Cyclosporiasis." --© Doody’s Review Service, 2021, Rudolf Jan Kotula, MD, reviewer, expert opinion
