Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Like many kids, he was first inspired to become a manga artist in elementary school when he read Dragon Ball. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his story Karakuri. After considering various genres for his next project, Kishimoto decided on a story steeped in traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in the world. The series would also spawn multiple anime series, movies, novels, video games and more. Having concluded the series in late 2014, Masashi Kishimoto has kept himself busy this year with the side story Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring and writing the story for the latest Naruto movie, Boruto: Naruto the Movie, both of which will focus on the title character's son, Boruto.

Besides Bleach, Naruto is one of the most famous manga inside and outside of Japan. Naruto has a very memorable and well written plot with characters that are very well drawn. As each comic book continues, the story and characters keep on developing and getting more better then they already are. It is a great series, i highly reccomend it.

WOW, this book was great. I really like the action and suspense in it. And if you didn't know, their is some romance going on. Well, i think that there are a lot more books comeing out awhile from now. I can't wait to see Naruto and his ninja friends grow up. I would definetly suggest to read this series to anyone that likes action, suspense, and heart throbing moments.(not just romance)

"Naruto vol. 4" continues the fierce battle begun in vol. 3, against the ninja-hunting Demon Zabuza and his deadly assistant Haku. The stage is set with Sasuke slain, Kakashi literally mystified and Sakura learning her own limitations. As everyone knows, when things look darkest for a band of heroes...it is time for a little payback. Payback is what you get in vol. 4, but not exactly in the way expected. Naruto, full of rage over his friends death, unleashes the power of the Nine-tailed Fox demon. Kakashi shows that he is more than the Sharingan Eye, using an innovative attack to overcome the loss of vision. Sasuke lies on the ground dead, and there is lots of weeping. The real story, however, is the love and loyalty between Zabuza and Haku. Compared to this, the trials of the four heroes are trivial. Haku sees himself as a weapon to be wielded by Zabuza, and the true test of his loyalty comes when Zabuza's feelings are made clear. Its some powerful, emotional stuff. Along with the conclusion of this story arc, vol. 4 also sets up the next adventure for the Naruto gang. This time, they head home to face the challenge of the examinations for chunin, the next level of Ninja. Several groups of older kids come into town to face the examinations, and run foul with Naruto and friends. Cue the music and start the fights!

THE NEW OPPONENTS There comes a time every ninja's training when he must put aside his morals and face the truth: ninjas are tools for killing. For Naruto, seeing Sasuke dead, that time is now. Rage awakens the nine-tailed fox spirit within Naruto, giving him the strength to overcome Haku-but can he bring himself to finish the job? As the battle for the Land of the Waves comes to a tragic ending, our heroes return to the village of Konohagakure in time for the chunin (Journyman ninja) exams. But junior ninjas from around the world have gathered to take the exam, bringing their own strange ninjutsu and mysterious goals....
