Helmed by the Swedish ambient artist Johan Agebjorn, the first full-length album by the pseudonymous singer Sally Shapiro is a tribute of sorts to 1980s Eurodisco, with Shapiro's breathy, affectless vocals recalling the glory days of Sheila B. Devotion's late-'70s hit, "Spacer." Pulsing cuts such as "I Know" and "Jackie Jackie" demonstrate Agebjorn's mastery of early 21st-century Italodisco's icily romantic textures, and Shapiro sings like an inflatable doll with a heart of gold.
